Mmmm...pizza

This weekend flew by!  Actually, I think Saturday dragged on a little bit because we were stuck inside playing because it was so cold again!  Sunday, on the other hand, flew by and we spent a lot of time in the afternoon running around outside.

This is how most of Saturday was spent...on You Tube clicking through all the toddler song videos.  I must say, it is so adorable when he stumbles upon "Wheels on the Bus" and does all the motions with the song.

Saturday night was build your own pizza night and I can see this quickly becoming a Friday or Saturday night tradition in the Smith household.  Keaton absolutely loves pizza and he hasn't been that excited about dinner in a long time.  It's time to add this to the weekly rotation!

Of course, pizza night is not complete without beer!  Drew just picked up this 312 pale ale and I'm really enjoying it.  I'm not a fan of a super hoppy pale ale, but this flavor is just right.  It's nice to have another choice rather than just drinking my old standby Stella.

I didn't get any pictures of us playing outside on Sunday, but we had a great time.  We pushed around the wagon, and rode around the block with Keaton's "bike."   We grilled a pork tenderloin and ate dinner with the back door open.  Ahhh...spring!

Happy Monday to you!

Easter basket ideas

I can't wait to start putting together Keaton's Easter basket for this year.  My mom will be in town and we plan on hiding the basket for Keaton to find that morning.  He will be a little young to understand but it will still be fun!  I'm trying to find some non-candy ideas to include in his basket.  Of course I went to my go to site, Pinterest to find some ideas.  I thought the below lists were pretty good.

Spring office

My office at work needed some major spring cleaning and updating.  I wanted something fresh for spring and the back corner of my desk was just the place to add something new.  I think the sign will remind us all that we should be AWESOME everyday!  Hope you are having a great work week!

Basement carpet

I love our basement so much!! I really want to spend all my time down there and can't wait to get started on Keaton's play room area.  I'll let the pictures do all the talking today!

The newly stained handrails look so good.

The nook area below was open and we think it was supposed to house a T.V.  Drew built this awesome bar area with a sink and mini-fridge.  He tiled the backsplash and built the shelves.  He is so handy!!

We have a half bathroom downstairs which we painted the same color as our master bathroom.  The color scheme fits so well with the grey and the new carpet.  Now to start planning the playroom area!

Margarita's!

Our weekend went way too fast, but it ended with a yummy Mexican dinner, and margarita's with good friends!  The weather was so awesome on Friday that we spent most of the evening outside playing.  We even opened the back door to feel the nice air during dinner on Friday night.  Spring needs to get here now!

The weather was in the upper 40s on Saturday so most of the day was spent inside but that didn't stop us from getting bundled up and trying out the new wagon that Gamma got us!   Keaton liked the wagon for the first half of the ride and then just wanted to stand up so we took him out to walk.  I know this wagon is going to be put to good use in the coming years.

Sunday was colder than Saturday and only made it to the upper 30s.  Keaton naps from 12:00-2:00 but sometimes wakes up around 1:30 instead of napping for the full 2 hours.  On Sunday he woke up around 1:20 and I figured he was awake so I went into his room to get him.  We usually go out to the couch after his nap and he sits on my lap and watches cartoons for a little while.  All of a sudden I heard pretty loud breathing and figured that he fell back asleep on my lap.  I was right!  Poor guy must have been tired so we just sat on the couch until 2:00.  I switched back to my DVR show and let him continue his nap.  Better than cartoons if you ask me!

After he woke up we wanted to get out of the house and find an indoor play area where Keaton could run around.  There is a place call Incrediplex about 10 minutes from our house so we went to check it out.  It wasn't very crowded at all and it was so fun!  Keaton is a little to young to really enjoy bouncy houses and jungle gyms, but Drew and I had just as much fun at him.  We played skiball, basketball and other arcade games while Keaton just watched.  It cost $10 to get in but they give you a game card with the $10 and we didn't want that money to go to waste.  Drew played a Nascar racing game and in the end all of our tickets got Keaton a small monster truck to take home.  I can see him loving this place when he gets a little older.

We met our friends Josh, Angie and their son Adler for dinner at El Rodeo on Sunday night.  Margarita's were on special and we couldn't pass that up.  It was fun catching up with Josh and Angie and Keaton had so much fun playing with Adler.  Keaton was so good while we ate dinner and I think he was mesmerized by Adler which was a great distraction for him.  We got to drink our entire margarita before he got antsy and wanted to get up.

Keaton also enjoyed his first lolipop which he loved!!

Such a fun weekend!

Bye, bye dead tree!

We had a huge tree in our front yard that has been dead since we moved in.  It has been losing its bark over the years and pretty heavy limbs were starting to fall off.  Leaves haven't grown on the tree for a few years as well.  It was pretty stressful every time the wind blew because we never knew if it was sturdy enough to stay in tact.  Let's just say we are so glad we removed it! The tree guy that we used told us he had no clue how it didn't fall over this winter with the heavy snow and strong winds.  Luckily we were able to save the smaller tree that was right next to it so our yard doesn't look completely bare.

I didn't get a before picture but here you see it is about half way cut down and there is still a lot more to go.  Pictures really don't do the size justice.  It was huge!!

Keaton was so excited to watch them and stayed at the window the whole time!

Here is our "after" shot looking from the sidewalk back to our house.  They were nice enough to stack some firewood for us to use later.  No more dead tree!

Happy 1st day of spring!

Well, we have officially made it through winter! Yippeee!!!  Although next week's forcast of highs in the low 40's does not feel like are done with this awful winter.  Today is pajama day at Keaton's school and he was so proud of the bear on his pj's.   They will be reading "Pajama Time" by Sandra Boynton and having a fun pajama party!  It's going to be lazy day fun at school all day!

Keaton's shirt says "Saving the day all before bedtime!"  Here he is pointing at his shirt to show us the bear. And yes, he is distracted by Chugginton playing on the TV.  I couldn't get him to look at me but that didn't stop him from showing me his shirt.  Multi-tasking... We hope you have a fun relaxing day too!  Wouldn't it be nice to stay in your pj's all day! (sorry for the blurry IPhone pics)

Stickers!

We had Keaton's 18 month well visit this morning and the poor little guy has an ear infection in both ears!  He has been coughing lately, but we didn't think much of it.  I think he is pretty tough because he never shows signs of his ears hurting.

His new favorite "toy" is stickers!  Of course he got a sticker this morning when we left the Dr. office and it put a big smile on his face.   We also have a coloring book that has a page of stickers and he spent a good amount of time entertained by sticking and unsticking to paper.   Ah, the little things!

This is just a cute picture of him playing blocks!  He loves dumping them all over the floor.  Luckily he is a good helper and will put them back in their box as well.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's so fun to think back on all of the crazy St. Patrick's Day parties we enjoyed before Keaton.  Oh, how I miss a Monday afternoon tent party!  Actually, I really don't miss it, and looking at this "cheese" face is so much better than people spilling green beer on me anyway!

The day started with me forgetting to put Keaton in green, but luckily he was going to Grandma's house so the kids wouldn't pinch him at school.  When we all got home we ate a quick dinner and I scoured Keaton's closet for a green shirt and we headed across the street to our neighbors for a party.  This is the only green shirt that Keaton owns!  I need to buy more green clothes for him.  We had a good time with the neighbors and Keaton and I headed home early to get him to bed.  I am milking his 7:00 p.m. bedtime as long as I can.  I know once he gets a little older that will change and he will start staying up later, but for now, he is in his crib at 7:00!

We love relaxing!

This weekend was spent playing, playing, and playing!  We love weekends that aren't very busy and can be spent working around the house and hanging out with Keaton.  Most of Saturday was spent outside in the 50 degree weather.  Drew cleaned up the yard and started a bonfire to burn all the sticks.  We grilled a pork tenderloin on Saturday night and brats on Sunday. Overall, a fun and relaxing weekend.  Here's to a good work week!

Its bright outside!!

Keaton loves eating strawberries for his snack.

Watching daddy pick up sticks in the yard and getting ready to go and enjoy the firepit. Snacks come first!

I'm itching for another party!

One of my favorite things to do is plan parties.  The actual party itself is always a good time, but the fun for me is scouring Pinterest, party websites and blogs for great ideas.  It's an addiction trying to find the perfect items!  In a different lifetime my career would be party planner, but alas I need to pay the bills so accounting it is.  So, today I'm thowing a fake dinner party on my blog and it would go something like this.  Thanks for coming to my pretend party!

I am currently in love with the rustic/farmhouse style.  My table would be decorated like this:

Of course you need place cards for each guest:

Menu would be displayed like this:

Dinner:

Happy Friday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
