Swim lessons

Last summer we did swim lessons with Keaton for about 3 months.  At the time he was 8, 9, and 10 months old and absolutely loved every minute of being in the pool!  We decided to do it again this summer and boy was he different!  I thought he may be a little timid about going in the pool, but he was terrified during the first lesson.  Luckily things got a lot better with our second lesson and I anticipate him having more and more fun as the weeks go by.  We can't wait to swim in Gamma's pool when we go to California in July!

Hunting eggs

I would say the biggest hit of Easter weekend was the hunting of eggs. Keaton was obsessed with finding the eggs and made us rehide them probably 30 times!  Drew's mom has a tradition of hiding hard boiled eggs that she has dyed.  It was so fun seeing Keaton run around for the eggs.  He definitely cracked a few when he threw them into his basket.

We had a great dinner over at Grandma and Grandpa Smiths house!

We were so happy that we got to see cousins Jeff, Shelli, Madison and Emilie!  I don't think Keaton wanted to have his picture taken!

We are trying so hard to get a good picture with Gamma, but he's not a fan of the camera!

We also did an Easter egg hunt at our house on Saturday.

I'll leave you with our family Easter picture. It was such a fun weekend!

Finding the basket

One of my favorite memories of Easter is waking up in the morning to find the basket that the Easter Bunny hid for me.  My mom did great at hiding it and I specifically remember one time finding it in the laundry room in the dryer. Too fun!!  My mom and I shopped for goodies to put in Keaton's basket and found quite a few toys!  Gamma did a great job putting everything together.  Keaton's great-Nana crocheted that cute little bunny that is in the basket.  The bunny opened up and revealed a few more little toys!

We hid the basket under the table and in the morning we told Keaton that the Easter bunny left him some presents.  He knows what presents are so he started running around looking for them.   I don't think he knew what to think at first seeing the big basket under the table.  He quickly figured it out and wanted to get all of his new toys out!

It was a very successful Easter morning!

Easter bunny is scary

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!  I think I have enough pictures to fill up an entire week of blogging!  We started the weekend on Friday and I had the day off from work.  We got Keaton dressed in the morning and headed to the mall to try to get the first seat with the Easter bunny. We got there right when the mall opened and I'm glad we did!  We were the 4th family in line and by the time we got our picture taken the line was already stretched around the corner.  Good call getting there right at 10:00 a.m.!

We watched the first few kids get their pictures and Keaton kept shaking his head no every time I said we were going to say hi to the bunny.  We started slowly by waving to the bunny and giving him a high five.  That went pretty well, but as soon as I tried to set him down he gave me the death grip and clenched his legs around me.  I finally pried him away, but as you can see in the picture below he was not happy about me betraying him and walking away.  Mean mommy!

The Easter bunny gave him a lollipop and that made everything better.  We walked around the mall for a little while and found a few mechanical car rides to go on.  He was much happier with the lollipop!

Hoppy Monday!  I'll be back with many more Easter posts this week!

BBQ with friends

Last Friday night Drew's Fraternity brother Dave, his wife Jamie, and kids came down to visit from Michigan.  We also invited Josh and Angie over to hang out as well.  It was so fun to see those 3 guys with their 3 sons (and Dave's daughter).  Quite a few of Drew's Fraternity brothers have son's and it will make for some fun friend trips if we ever get the chance to take a vacation with everyone in tow!

Keaton, Jackson and Adler had so much fun playing in the backyard and basement. Bubbles were a big hit!

It was almost time to put Keaton down for bed so we wanted to give him a quick bath so we asked the kids if they wanted to jump in.  This may be blackmail in the future!!   They are so adorable!

Little soccer star

I definitely have mixed feelings when it comes to Keaton getting into sports!  On one hand I can't wait to see him be a part of a team, play soccer, t-ball, etc. but on the other hand I see families that spend all weekend watching their kids play sports and am not looking forward to losing relaxing weekends!  I was involved in so many sports when I was little and so was Drew.  Soccer was Drew's favorite and I know that will probably be the first sport we get Keaton into.  We have a ball in the garage that he always wants to play with and we are teaching him to kick and not pick up with his hands!  I love watching Keaton run...he is so adorable when it gets going fast and he usually laughs and smiles so big!  I took way too many pictures of him the other day, but I couldn't help myself.  Enjoy the many stages of running (and falling)!
